Business Valuation Analyst

Overview

Hartree Partners is a global energy and commodities trading firm with a growing presence in the Asia-Pacific energy transition landscape. We are seeking a commercially driven professional to join our Singapore office as a Business Valuation Analyst, supporting the Environmental Products team.

This role is designed for a candidate with strong modelling and analytical skills and able to work closely with structuring and origination functions, supported by a solid understanding of corporate or structured finance. The successful candidate will play acritical role in identifying, developing, and executing structured commercial transactions across APAC environmental markets, primarily Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Origination & Business Development

• Work with the origination and structuring teams on the modelling of carbon credit project transactions, principally involving ACCUs and NZUs.
• Conduct early-stage commercial assessments on projects in conjunction with the origination team, leading opportunity development from concept to execution.
• Work with the structuring team to create tailored client solutions for project developers over current and future issuances.
• Help protect project valuations via market access (direct and via sales desk clients).

2. Structuring & Risk Management

• Develop financial models and commercial structures to support deal pricing, valuation, and risk-reward analysis.
• Assess key risk components of proposed transactions including market, credit, regulatory, and operational risks.

3. Market & Policy Intelligence:

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the environmental product markets, including developments in carbon pricing, regulatory schemes, renewable electricity, and environmental certificates across APAC.
• Represent Hartree in market discussions, industry forums, and bilateral meetings to stay informed and identify emerging opportunities.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self-starter looking to work as part of a team with a strong track record in commercial origination, deal execution, and market development in the energy, environmental, or commodities sectors. The role requires someone who can confidently identify, model and shape opportunities and drive transactions forward as part of a team.

Skills & Experience

• 5 to 10 years of experience in structured transactions or trading in energy, commodities, or carbon markets.
• Proven ability to price and model transactions within the Australia and New Zealand carbon markets.
• Solid understanding of structured finance, corporate valuation, and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with APAC carbon markets is highly preferred with existing counterparty relationships.
• Ability to track and manage trade performance and develop actionable trading strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field; postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MBA, CFA) are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel across Asia-Pacific as required.
