AI Engineer (Up to Principal) - Global NYSE Tech Firm

About the Opportunity

NYSE-listed global technology group with a diversified portfolio of digital consumer platforms. This role sits within one of the group's core enterprise product lines.

The team is developing next-generation autonomous capabilities for a widely-used enterprise software product.

Hiring across levels: Engineer, Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer. Scope of ownership scales with level.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine intelligent agent functionality: orchestration logic, function/tool invocation, retrieval-augmented generation, multi-step automated workflows.
• Convert product requirements into technical designs, prototypes, and production features.
• Build and embed LLM-driven capabilities into the core platform: copilot functions, intelligent search, summarization, autonomous workflows.
• Build evaluation frameworks and monitoring systems to track agent precision, latency, and reliability in production.
• Coordinate with backend and infrastructure teams on scalability and security for enterprise use.

Scope by level:

• Engineer: executes defined technical specs, ships individual features, runs experiments under senior guidance.
• Senior Engineer: owns features end-to-end, makes independent architecture decisions, mentors Engineers, shapes technical requirements with PM.
• Principal Engineer: sets technical direction across workstreams, owns cross-system architecture decisions, drives evaluation methodology, shapes product strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong coding fundamentals in Python and/or Java/Go.
• Working knowledge of ML/deep learning fundamentals and LLM concepts: prompting, embeddings, RAG, agentic systems, tool/function calling.
• Comfortable picking up new frameworks independently: LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases.
• Strong communication skills, able to work directly with Product and Design.
• Experience by level:
• Engineer: 0-3 years relevant experience. Internship or academic LLM/AI project work counts.
• Senior Engineer: 3-6 years relevant experience, including production LLM/ML systems work.
• Principal Engineer: 7+ years relevant experience, track record shipping ML/LLM-powered products at scale.
