Assistant Test Manager
Job Requirements
Overview
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Test Manager to join the CIMS IT Project team. The candidate will be involved in coordinating software testing activities to ensure system quality, functionality, reliability, and compliance with project requirements. The candidate will also assist the Test Manager to lead a team of Test Engineers of various experience levels, as such, they will need to mentor, assign tasks and follow up with testing progress on various testing activities.
This role is suitable for candidates who are passionate about software quality assurance, testing processes, and people management. Candidates with exposure to automation testing, API testing, and customer-facing environments will have an added advantage. The candidate will also be expected to work closely with the Test Engineers in completing testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Functional & Manual Testing
Perform functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) support.
Execute manual test cases based on project requirements and specifications.
Validate system functionalities, workflows, interfaces, and business processes.
Perform end-to-end testing for web-based and integrated systems.
Verify defect fixes and conduct re-testing activities.
Test Planning & Documentation
Develop, review, and maintain:
Test plans
Test scenarios
Test cases
Test reports
Support the Test Manager in planning and managing SIT, UAT, Regression Testing, DR Testing, and other Verification Testing activities.
Ensure test documentation is complete, organized, and traceable to requirements.
Support test evidence collection and documentation for audit or governance purposes.
Defect Management
Log, track, and manage defects using project tracking tools.
Work closely with developers and technical teams to troubleshoot issues.
Follow up on outstanding defects and ensure timely closure.
Lead defect triage discussions and prioritization activities.
Automation & API Testing
Support automation testing activities where applicable.
Experience or exposure to automation tools such as
Playwright will be advantageous.
Perform basic API testing using tools such as:
Postman
REST API tools
Validate API request/response data and integration behavior.
Coordination & Stakeholder Support
Coordinate with Project Managers, Developers, System Engineers, and Business Users during testing activities.
Support SIT, UAT, deployment verification, and production validation activities.
Communicate testing progress, issues, and risks clearly to stakeholders.
Provide support during project implementation and operational readiness activities.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems Or related disciplines
Experience Requirements
3-4 years of relevant experience in software testing or quality assurance.
Minimum 2 years in a leadership role with proven success in mentoring and growing a testing team.
Minimum 2 years experience in customer facing with stakeholder management roles.
Experience in enterprise or government projects is an added advantage.

Experience in:
Manual testing

SIT/UAT support
Strong understanding of software testing lifecycle (STLC).
Experience in writing detailed and structured test cases.
Automation Testing
Experience or exposure to:
Playwright
Test automation concepts and frameworks
Automated test execution and reporting
(Automation testing experience is advantageous but not mandatory.)
API Testing
Basic knowledge or experience in:
API testing
RESTful APIs
Postman or equivalent tools
JSON request/response validation
