Email Security Engineer

Job Summary

You will support and manage enterprise Mail Hygiene and Email Security platforms by administering systems, troubleshooting issues, implementing changes, and providing L2/L3 support to protect against spam, phishing, malware, and other email threats.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise Email Security and Mail Hygiene platforms to ensure continuous protection and service availability
• Configure system settings, manage security policies, perform upgrades, and implement changes to optimize email security environments
• Deliver L2/L3 technical support for complex email security incidents and service requests to resolve issues efficiently
• Troubleshoot mail flow, email delivery, spam filtering, and security-related problems to maintain operational integrity
• Monitor platform health metrics and service performance to proactively identify and address potential disruptions
• Support security investigations by analyzing phishing, malware, and suspicious email activities to mitigate threats
• Maintain accurate operational documentation and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum 3 years of IT experience including at least 2 years supporting enterprise messaging or email security environments
• Hands-on experience administering one or more of the following platforms: Cisco Email Security (ESA), Proofpoint, Mimecast, Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Microsoft Defender for Office 365
• Strong understanding of SMTP mail flow, SPF, DKIM, DMARC protocols, anti-spam and anti-phishing technologies, and email security best practices
• Experience working within ITIL-based support environments

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Cisco Email Security Certification
• Microsoft Security or Microsoft 365 Certifications
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Experience in Managed Services environments
• Exposure to Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 platforms
• Knowledge of Email Threat Protection and Security Operations
