Front Office Software Developer

About the role

Quanteam is a technology and consulting firm specialising in financial services and energy. We are looking for a Front Office Software Developer to support the pricing, risk and P&L systems used by energy and commodities trading desks.

This is a hands-on role positioned close to the trading desks, combining application development with production support. You will work alongside traders, quantitative analysts and technology teams to ensure the accuracy, stability and performance of the systems that calculate pricing, risk exposure and daily P&L across trading activities.

Key responsibilities

Front-office development

• Develop and enhance applications supporting energy and commodities trading activities (power, gas, LNG, carbon markets).
• Build and maintain tools used by traders, risk managers and analysts.
• Implement enhancements requested by trading desks to improve workflows and analytics.

Risk & P&L systems

• Maintain and improve systems responsible for daily P&L calculation and risk monitoring.
• Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies and risk calculation issues.
• Ensure the accuracy of exposure calculations across trading portfolios.

Pricing library development

• Maintain and enhance pricing libraries used to value energy derivatives and physical trading contracts.
• Integrate quantitative models developed by quant and risk teams.
• Improve the performance and scalability of pricing calculations.

Production support

• Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support for front-office trading applications.
• Troubleshoot issues affecting pricing, P&L and risk reporting.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes.

Collaboration

• Work closely with traders, risk management, quantitative analysts and platform engineering teams.
• Act as a bridge between business users and technology teams.

Requirements

Technical

• Strong programming skills in Python and/or .NET.
• Experience developing pricing or risk calculation systems.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of quantitative pricing models such as Black-Scholes and/or Monte Carlo methods.

Functional knowledge

• Understanding of trading environments (energy, commodities or financial markets).
• Familiarity with risk metrics and P&L calculations.
• Exposure to trading platforms or ETRM systems (e.g. Orchestrade) is an advantage.

Soft skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.
• Comfortable working directly with traders in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Able to manage urgent production issues calmly.

Experience

• 0–2 years of software development experience, ideally within banking, financial markets or trading technology.
• Exposure to front-office applications or trading systems is desirable.
• Experience in energy trading, commodities trading or capital markets is a strong plus.
