Job Description - Infrastructure & DevOps Lead

Position Overview

  • As the Head of the Infrastructure & DevOps team, you will lead the foundational operations and engineering architecture for backend business systems. You will not only be expected to personally resolve the most complex production issues, but also build the operations framework from 0 to 1, design the on-call process, and mentor team members to ensure efficiency and security throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Core Positioning:

  • You are the gatekeeper of production stability. Reporting to the IT Director, you will lead the team in closely aligning with business needs to ensure the company’s products maintain high availability and high concurrency processing capabilities, especially for core components such as matching and market data.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management & Operational Framework

  • Team Building: Assist the IT Director in building the DevOps team, including hiring, training, and performance management for future L1/L2 operations engineers.
  • Process & Governance: Establish standardized release management and incident response processes to ensure smooth team operations in a 24/7 high-pressure environment.

Core Infrastructure Support

  • High-Concurrency Optimization: Design low-latency, high-throughput optimization strategies for critical systems such as:
  • Matching Engine
  • Wallet Services
  • Market Data Distribution
  • Full Lifecycle Support: Work closely with the product and engineering teams from the architecture design stage, providing scalability and reliability recommendations.

Cloud-Native & Automation Architecture

  • Multi-Cloud Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Pulumi to manage infrastructure across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Alibaba Cloud, enabling true Infrastructure as Code and reducing vendor lock-in.
  • Container Orchestration: Lead the planning and maintenance of Kubernetes (K8s) clusters, leveraging Helm, Kustomize, and Operators to improve microservices scalability and version management.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Design and maintain GitOps workflows based on GitLab CI and ArgoCD, enabling deployment within minutes and rollback within seconds.

Observability & Security

  • Monitoring & Observability: Integrate Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and OpenTelemetry to build full-stack observability covering:
  • Infrastructure
  • Containers
  • Business transaction flows
  • DevSecOps: Collaborate with the security team to integrate security scanning tools such as SonarQube and Snyk into CI/CD pipelines. Maintain production WAF, firewall, and IDS/IPS policies, while supporting external security audits.

Incident Response

  • On-Call Leadership: Actively participate in and manage a 24/7 on-call rotation. During production incidents, serve as the Incident Commander, coordinating technical response and driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA)afterward to prevent recurring failures.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: 6–8 years in IT infrastructure, with at least 4+ years of hands-on DevOps/SRE experience.
  • Industry Background: Experience in an exchange, high-concurrency fintech environment, or major tech company preferred. Familiarity with trading infrastructure such as matching engines is highly desirable.
  • Leadership Potential: Experience leading a small team of 2–3 engineers or serving as a technical lead.

Hard Skills

  • Linux & Scripting: Strong Linux fundamentals with deep expertise in Shell and Python scripting. Able to independently troubleshoot kernel-level performance issues.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD toolchains such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, and ArgoCD.
  • Strong knowledge of containers and Kubernetes ecosystem, with experience in Helm, Kustomize, or Operators preferred.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Pulumi.
  • Exposure to automated operations in microservices environments, including service governance and service mesh.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and security scanning tools such as SonarQube, Anchore, or Snyk, along with familiarity with cloud security best practices.

Soft Skills

  • Resilience & Ownership: Strong sense of ownership. Able to stay calm and make fast, effective decisions during market volatility or sudden traffic spikes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Able to bridge engineering teams and the IT Director effectively, with strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in remote collaboration environments, highly self-driven, professional
