Java API Automation Test Engineer – Karate Framework

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Java API Automation Test Engineer with hands-on experience in the Karate Testing Framework to support automation testing initiatives for projects based in Singapore. The successful candidate will be involved in developing and maintaining API automation frameworks, executing automated test cases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure software quality and delivery excellence.

This role is suitable for professionals with strong technical expertise in API automation testing, Java programming, and Agile delivery environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts using Java and Karate Framework

• Perform REST API testing and backend automation testing activities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing

• Analyze test execution results and support issue troubleshooting and root cause analysis

• Collaborate with development, QA, and project teams to identify and resolve defects

• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Maintain automation reports, testing documentation, and test metrics

• Support CI/CD integration and automated test execution pipelines

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to automation testing processes and frameworks

Requirements

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Java Automation Testing

• Hands-on experience with Karate Testing Framework

• Experience in REST API Automation Testing

• Strong Core Java programming knowledge

• Experience with Maven, Git, and Jenkins

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline integration

• Knowledge of SQL and database validation

• Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Selenium Automation Testing

• Exposure to Playwright

• Experience in Banking or Financial Services projects

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure

Certifications

• Certification in Karate Framework or API Automation Testing is advantageous

• Java-related certifications will be an added advantage

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
