Java Devops Developer (Financial Services)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The DevOps and Full Stack Java Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise-grade applications while ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud-native deployment practices. This dual-expertise position bridges software development and infrastructure operations to enhance agility, reliability, and performance across critical banking platforms. Reporting to the GT Risk Application Responsible, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with architecture, security, application & business- responsible people to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with the Bank’s technology strategy.

KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION

DEVELOPMENT (FULL STACK JAVA):

• Design, develop, test, and maintain server-side and front-end components of web-based financial applications using Java and modern frameworks.
• Build responsive user interfaces integrating HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and popular libraries/frameworks such as React.js or Angular.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot, Hibernate, and related technologies.
• Ensure code quality through u
• nit testing, integration testing, and participation in agile peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and performance bottlenecks in pre-production and production environments.

DEVOPS ENGINEERING:

• Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab.
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes
• Configure and maintain containerisation platforms using Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with platform teams on observability, monitoring and alerting solutions.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:

• Work within Agile squads using Scrum or SAFe methodologies.
• Contribute to technical documentation, architectural decisions, and code governance.
• Partner with Information Security and Risk Management teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal control requirements.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications considered advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development with strong command of core Java, JEE, Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data).
• Strong expertise in databases and data management, with hands-on experience in Oracle and SQL Server, and a strong focus on real-time data streaming technologies like Apache Kafka and RisingWave
• Demonstrable experience building end-to-end applications with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and modern built tools
• Proficient in developing and consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Solid hands-on experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (GitLab).
