L2 Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for LAN, WAN, firewall, VPN, and connectivity issues

• Troubleshoot routing, switching, wireless, and network security incidents

• Handle escalations from NOC and escalate complex issues to L3 or vendors

• Perform approved configuration changes on routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices

• Support VLAN, routing, ACL, NAT, firewall policy, and VPN changes

• Monitor network devices using tools such as NetGain

• Respond to alerts related to availability, utilization, latency, packet loss, CPU, memory, and link status

• Assist with SNMP, Syslog, and device onboarding into monitoring platforms

• Support planned maintenance, migrations, cutovers, and post-change validation

• Maintain network documentation, incident notes, change records, and handover documents

Technical Requirements

• Good understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, STP, routing, and switching

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and IPsec VPN

• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Aruba, HPE, or similar

• Experience with firewall policies, NAT, VPN troubleshooting, and log review

• Familiarity with SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, and NMS tools

• Basic knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Azure, or AWS is an advantage

• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell is a plus

Experience & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or related field

• 3–5 years of network engineering or network operations experience

• Experience in managed services, NOC, or enterprise support environments preferred
