Mobile Developer

About the role

We're looking for a talented Mobile App Developer to design and build high performance, user-centric apps for iOS and/or Android, with a focus on embedding AI and on-device intelligence into the product experience. You'll work with audience analytics, data science and engineering teams to bring features like smart recommendations, on-device inference, and generative AI assistants to life, creating reliable mobile experiences that users love.

Roles & Responsibilities

App Development

• Design, develop, test and deploy mobile apps using native or cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter/Dart).
• Write clean, modular, scalable code and follow mobile architecture best practices.

AI/ML Integration

• Embed generative AI capabilities such as chat assistants, AI search, content summarisation via LLM APIs or on-device small language models.
• Integrate on-device ML models for various features and work with ML engineers to optimize and deploy models for mobile inference
• Use AI-assisted dev tools to speed up coding and code review.

Collaboration & Quality

• Partner with product managers to build accessible interfaces and with data scientists/engineers on API and model integration
• Write unit, UI, and integration tests, including validation of AI feature outputs.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and releases

Performance & Reliability

• Optimise for speed, battery, and memory, including the added load of on-device AI inference.
• Debug and resolve crashes, memory leaks and performance issues across devices.
• Implement secure coding practices and handle data privacy responsibly, especially for AI-driven personalisation.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and Backend/ML Engineers to define feature requirements and success criteria.
• Communicate development approach, trade-offs and progress clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience building mobile apps on iOS, Android, or both. Experience building web apps will be a bonus.
• Proficiency in native or cross-platform (React Native, Flutter/Dart) development
• Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns
• Experience integrating REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party SDKs
• Experience with on-device ML frameworks and/or integrating LLM/GenAI APIs.
• Strong debugging and performance-profiling skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across devices.
• Experience shipping an AI-powered feature, or familiarity with RAG, vector search, or agentic app patterns on mobile.
• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
