Job Description - Senior Delivery Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end product delivery lifecycle, from project initiation through implementation and post-go-live support, ensuring product objectives, scope, quality, and compliance requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and achieved.
  • Develop and maintain delivery roadmaps, project plans, and implementation schedules in collaboration with the Project Management Team (PMT), ensuring milestones, dependencies, and timelines are effectively managed.
  • Ensure delivery outcomes meet agreed scope, quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams, the PMT, business stakeholders, and vendors, providing clear and consistent communication on project progress, risks, issues, and key decisions.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure technical delivery remains on track by clarifying priorities, managing requirements, removing blockers, and supporting successful execution.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement across business and technical teams, ensuring alignment on product vision, priorities, and delivery progress.
  • Champion Agile delivery practices by facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate delivery risks and issues, escalating where appropriate to minimise impact on timelines, quality, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with organisational governance, regulatory, security, and quality standards by embedding appropriate assurance checkpoints throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, operations, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure coordinated delivery across multiple workstreams.
  • Monitor delivery health and provide regular status reports to senior management, highlighting progress, risks, resource requirements, and any changes to scope or timelines.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while supporting teams in resolving impediments and maintaining delivery momentum.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies and promoting Agile best practices.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Operations Manager when required in the absence of an appointed Operations Manager.
  • Lead the delivery of large-scale, complex, mission-critical programmes involving multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Drive programme planning, governance, execution, release management, operational readiness, implementation governance, and post-deployment stabilisation.
  • Establish programme governance frameworks, reporting structures, delivery standards, and performance metrics.
  • Manage enterprise-level risks, dependencies, change requests, and delivery trade-offs across multiple initiatives.
  • Lead executive stakeholder engagement, steering committee meetings, and senior management reporting.
  • Coordinate multi-vendor delivery activities to ensure alignment, accountability, and successful programme outcomes.
  • Drive delivery excellence by improving Agile maturity, optimising delivery processes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach Delivery Managers, Scrum Masters, and delivery teams to strengthen delivery capability and leadership.
  • Support organisational planning, resource management, prioritisation, and strategic delivery planning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent professional experience with demonstrated expertise and achievements may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in software delivery, project management, programme management, Agile delivery, or product delivery.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Delivery Manager, Delivery Manager, Programme Manager, Agile Delivery Lead, Scrum Master, or a similar role managing end-to-end software delivery.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, estimation, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing delivery roadmaps, project plans, milestones, dependencies, budgets, and cross-functional workstreams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across business, technical, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify, manage, and resolve delivery risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Experience working within compliance, governance, regulatory, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Strong technical understanding of software development lifecycles, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams and management of technical delivery.
  • Excellent facilitation, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:
