Senior Manager/ Asst. Director, Software Engineering

Role Summary

Lead the engineering function by driving the technology strategy, engineering roadmap, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions. Partner with senior business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business goals, lead high-performing engineering teams, and champion engineering excellence, innovation, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the engineering strategy, technical roadmap, and architecture across all applications and platforms.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, high-performing, and cloud-native on AWS.
• Establish and champion engineering best practices across software architecture, CI/CD, DevOps, testing, and observability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and teams, fostering a high-performance and accountable engineering culture.
• Oversee end-to-end software delivery, ensuring quality, timely execution, and operational excellence.
• Build and scale engineering capabilities through hiring, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Partner with senior business leaders to align technology initiatives with business priorities, and effectively communicate engineering strategy, progress, risks, and recommendations.
• Manage strategic technology vendors and outsourcing partners, including contract negotiations, SLA governance, performance management, and cost optimization.
• Oversee the engineering delivery and technical direction of customer-facing applications, platforms, and shared services.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and technology modernization to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Proven ability to define and execute engineering strategy, technical roadmap, and long-term technology vision aligned with business objectives.
• Strong stakeholder management with excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills; experienced partnering with senior leadership, including C-suite executives, Business Heads, and cross-functional leaders.
• Strong technical expertise in Java, React/Next.js, AWS, microservices, PostgreSQL, and modern software architecture, or related.
• Extensive experience delivering cloud-native applications on AWS and leading engineering best practices across SDLC, CI/CD, DevOps, and observability.
• Proven track record in building high-performing engineering teams, driving delivery excellence, and managing vendor partnerships.
