A bit about us
Cartrack is a smart mobility SaaS company with 2.6 M+ subscribers across 23 countries. We build the software fleet operators use every day, vehicle telematics, AI-powered cameras, driver safety tools, maintenance and cost management, delivery and field services. Our design team is small, senior, and hands-on: designers here own their work end to end, from discovery through shippable prototypes, not just handoff decks.
What you'll own
One of our core product areas, a Hub pillar like Track & Locate (live fleet monitoring), Operate & Dispatch (routes and delivery), Drive Safer (coaching and video safety), Maintain & Uptime (inspections, service, diagnostics), or the Driver App. You'll be the design owner of that area: its user experience, its design roadmap, and its quality bar. This is standing ownership, not a single project. Over time you'll know your pillar's users, edge cases, and workflows better than anyone.
Where the team is headed
Designers on this team work like builders: taking work from problem definition through to production-ready prototypes, and increasingly into shipped code. We also use AI as part of the everyday craft, for research, prototyping, and closing the gap between design and production faster than a classic Figma-to-dev handoff.
Responsibilities
Own the design health of your pillar end to end, from problem framing and research through to build-ready prototypes.
Partner closely with your pillar's PM, and initiate, don't just execute: run discovery, spot problems nobody assigned you, and propose your pillar's design roadmap.
Build working prototypes in HTML/CSS aligned to our design system, reducing the gap between designed and shipped.
Use AI tools day to day, for research, prototyping, exploring directions, and writing front-end code.
Run and synthesize customer conversations and usability sessions to validate direction before and after you ship.
Make trade-off calls between scope, speed, and quality, and explain your reasoning to stakeholders.
Contribute components and patterns back to the design system so your work compounds across the team.
Give and receive regular design critique within a small, senior, international team.
Requirements
6+ years of product design experience, with a track record of owning a product area end to end, ideally in B2B SaaS or other complex, workflow-heavy products.
A portfolio showing full ownership of at least one product area from discovery to a shipped, measured outcome, not just polished mockups.
Evidence of initiating work within your scope: a problem you found yourself, made the case for, and shipped.
Strong prototyping skills in Figma, plus genuine comfort prototyping in code (HTML/CSS); JavaScript/frontend experience is a plus.
Hands-on use of AI tools in your design workflow.
The ability to simplify complex, multi-role workflows into a clear point of view, and hold it under pushback.
Sharp visual and writing judgment: hierarchy, copy, and interaction details aren't an afterthought.
Comfortable working async across time zones with a distributed team.
