Software Engineer (Shift) - 1 year Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Software Engineer (Database Administration) to manage, maintain, and optimize our organization's database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, security, performance, and integrity while supporting application development teams with database design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize relational database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Monitor database performance and perform tuning to ensure optimal system efficiency.
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database servers and related software.
• Develop and maintain database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Perform database backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity testing.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and storage utilization, and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot database performance issues, deadlocks, replication problems, and data inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with software development teams to design efficient database schemas and optimize SQL queries.
• Implement and maintain database security, user access controls, encryption, and auditing in accordance with organizational policies.
• Support database migration, upgrades, and cloud database initiatives where applicable.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and database architecture diagrams.
• Participate in system maintenance, after-hours support, and incident response when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in database administration or database engineering.
• Strong experience with one or more database platforms:Microsoft SQL ServerOracle DatabaseMySQLPostgreSQL
• Proficiency in SQL programming, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and database integration with enterprise applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical teams.
