System Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to oversee the maintenance, setup, and integration of enterprise systems, with a focus on server infrastructure, network configuration, and system automation. This role does not require extensive coding but involves close collaboration with application and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, stable, and compliant system environments. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks such as PDPA and MAS TRM, as we support financial institutions and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Server & System Maintenance
  Maintain and manage server infrastructure (Windows/UNIX/Linux), including routine patching, system health checks, and updates to ensure availability, security, and performance.

• System Setup & Configuration
  Install, configure, test, and commission systems including OS, middleware, and core application components, ensuring compatibility with project-specific requirements.

• Network & Infrastructure Deployment
  Design and deploy network and system infrastructure (e.g., switches, firewalls, virtual environments). Coordinate with vendors or partners to implement and validate configurations based on approved architecture.

• Testing & Validation Support
  Support SIT, UAT, SAT, and training environments. Perform system reliability, load, and performance testing, troubleshooting issues across hardware, application, and network layers.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  Work with internal teams (e.g., Mechanical, Application Integration) and external vendors to validate and refine workflows and system performance.

• Documentation & Compliance
  Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, including setup guides, configuration standards, and integration manuals. Ensure adherence to PDPA, MAS TRM, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Automation & Scripting Support
  Contribute to operational efficiency by supporting automation efforts using scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for monitoring, deployment, or auto-start services.

• Virtualization & Orchestration
  Assist in the deployment and administration of virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix) and containerized platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Innovation & Special Projects
  Support Proof of Concepts (PoCs), hardware/software evaluations, and pilot deployments for new initiatives or technology adoption.

• Ad Hoc Duties
  Undertake additional system-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in system maintenance, infrastructure setup, and integration.

• Strong hands-on experience with server and network infrastructure, including working with partners for deployment.

• Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux environments, and application stack tuning (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, JBoss).

• Experience with virtualization and hyper-converged platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, vSAN).

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTPS, SFTP, and REST APIs.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and system hardening.

• Basic scripting capability in Python, Shell, or equivalent for automation tasks.

• Awareness of regulatory frameworks including PDPA, MAS TRM, and relevant government standards.

• Experience in public sector or financial industry deployments is an advantage.

• Independent and team-oriented, with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).

• Willingness to travel for on-site support or overseas deployment if required.
