Profile

We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to support Cartrack's OEM integrations and Fleet API. This is a technical investigator role rather than a traditional support position. The ideal candidate enjoys understanding how systems work, analysing data, identifying root causes, and helping others understand technical problems.

The person will spend a significant amount of time investigating problems across multiple systems: reviewing data, reproducing issues, understanding API behaviour, and determining root causes before escalating to engineering. They should be comfortable moving between customer conversations, SQL queries, API documentation, JSON payloads, technical documentation, and OEM manufacturer platforms during the same day.

We are looking for a strong, structured communicator who can ask relevant diagnostic questions, summarise findings concisely, and adapt explanations to both technical and non-technical audiences. The candidate is not expected to know automotive telematics on day one, but should be genuinely curious and willing to learn. Over time, they will become one of the team's knowledge experts and own the majority of the day-to-day support activities the Integration Team handles today.

Role

The Integration Team owns two key areas: OEM integrations with vehicle manufacturers (Volkswagen, Stellantis, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Tesla and others), and the Cartrack Fleet API used by customers, partners, and internal teams. As both areas continue to grow, the team needs a dedicated technical support resource who can investigate issues, provide technical diagnosis, communicate with customers and partners, and gradually become a subject matter expert.

The role spans both areas, weighted roughly 60% towards OEM integrations, 30% towards Fleet API support, and 10% towards documentation and process improvement. The work centres on investigating why data or integrations are not behaving as expected, reproducing and diagnosing issues across systems, and determining root cause before escalating to engineering. This position helps fleets of vehicles across multiple continents run more efficiently and stay connected.

You have

Mandatory Qualifications

• Education or experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent industry experience in technical support, integrations, QA, or a similar role.

• SQL: comfortable writing queries independently, filtering and correlating data, understanding joins, and using databases to investigate operational issues.

• APIs: a good practical understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, authentication concepts, status codes, JSON payloads, and API documentation. Able to read an API specification and test API calls without assistance.

• Technical investigation: a structured, evidence-based approach to unfamiliar problems, gathering evidence and reasoning logically towards a root cause.

• Communication: clear, professional communication, with the ability to ask relevant diagnostic questions, summarise findings concisely, and adapt explanations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• API tooling: familiarity with tools such as Postman, curl, or similar for testing and reproducing requests.

• Domain exposure: exposure to automotive telematics, OEM or vehicle data, or fleet management platforms. Curiosity and willingness to learn matter more than prior domain knowledge.

• Support and issue tracking: experience with support ticketing (for example Zammad) and issue tracking (for example GitLab).

• Integration knowledge: understanding of vehicle activation processes, telemetry flows, data ingestion, and integration architecture.

• Scripting: basic scripting or programming to automate repetitive investigation tasks.
