Intern, Industrial Engineering ( 6 Months)

We are seeking a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to support our labor efficiency improvement initiatives within the Global Product Delivery team. This internship offers hands‑on experience in operational excellence, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies within a fast‑paced industrial environment.

You will work on a high‑impact project focused on reducing labor hour variance by analyzing actual versus standard work hours, identifying root causes of inefficiencies, and recommending data‑driven improvements. This role is ideal for a self‑starter who enjoys problem‑solving, process mapping, and collaborating across functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Labor Efficiency & Variance Analysis

• Conduct detailed analysis of standard vs. actual labor hours to identify deviations.


• Calculate labor efficiency variance and interpret findings to highlight improvement opportunities.


• Perform time studies to validate assumptions and evaluate current work practices.

2. Process Mapping & Problem Identification

• Develop value stream maps to visualize current workflows and uncover bottlenecks or inefficiencies.


• Facilitate gap analysis to determine the root causes behind labor hour variances.

3. Continuous Improvement Project Execution

• Apply the DMAIC (Define–Measure–Analyze–Improve–Control) framework to structure problem‑solving activities.


• Coordinate and support Kaizen workshops to drive improvement ideas and solutions.


• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement, test, and validate corrective actions.

4. Documentation & Standardization

• Create or update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) reflecting improved workflows.


• Develop training materials to support the adoption of new processes.

Requirements:

• In your third year of university student pursuing:
  
  
  
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Industrial & Systems Engineering),
  
  
  • Bachelor of Technology (Industrial & Management Engineering), or
  
  
  • Equivalent specialisation within NTU MAE or similar institutions.
