In the role of Offensive Cybersecurity Engineer Intern, you will support collaborative security testing engagements and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity assessment activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) activities across various systems, networks, and applications under the guidance of senior team members
Support source code reviews and host configuration reviews, learning to identify security gaps against industry best practices and established security standards
Contribute to technical documentation by recording discovered vulnerabilities, assisting with impact analysis, and learning to develop remediation recommendations
Research evolving threat landscapes, emerging vulnerabilities, and industry developments to support the team's knowledge base
Participate in cybersecurity consultancy activities, observing and learning how to provide security recommendations to customers
Assist in developing and refining technical methodologies and standards for VAPT delivery
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, common vulnerabilities, and attack techniques
Familiarity with networking concepts, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and web application technologies
Basic understanding of security frameworks such as OWASP, NIST, or MITRE ATT&CK
Exposure to security tools (e.g., Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, Wireshark) through coursework, personal projects, or Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn from experienced professionals
Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Any relevant certifications (e.g., CEH, Security+, eJPT) or participation in bug bounty programmes is a plus
