Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Investment Performance & Excel Model Review Consultant to independently review, validate, and enhance existing Excel-based investment performance models and related calculation methodologies.

The successful candidate will assess the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of performance measurement calculations, including Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Time-Weighted Return (TWR), Money-Weighted Return (MWR), bond yields, and portfolio returns. The role involves identifying calculation errors, methodological inconsistencies, and control weaknesses, while providing practical recommendations aligned with industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Review existing Excel model structures, formulas, assumptions, data inputs, and cash flow treatment methodologies.
• Validate the accuracy of IRR, XIRR, TWR, MWR, bond yield, and portfolio return calculations.
• Assess the appropriateness of existing investment performance measurement methodologies against market practices and recognised standards.
• Identify formula errors, methodological inconsistencies, manual adjustments, and model control weaknesses.
• Recommend enhancements to improve model accuracy, transparency, auditability, and operational robustness.
• Prepare concise documentation outlining calculation methodologies, key assumptions, limitations, and recommended controls.
• Present findings and recommendations to management in a clear and practical manner.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Investment Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification in investment performance measurement, such as CIPM, or equivalent professional expertise in investment performance analysis and model validation.
• Proven experience in investment performance measurement, portfolio return analysis, performance attribution, or investment reporting.
• Strong knowledge of IRR, XIRR, TWR, MWR, bond yield calculations, and portfolio performance methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, formula validation, data reconciliation, and analytical review.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience reviewing or validating investment performance models used by investment managers, asset management firms, family offices, private funds, or financial institutions.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices relating to investment performance measurement and reporting.
• Experience supporting management reporting, governance reviews, audit reviews, or investment oversight functions.

Project Duration

Project-based engagement with deliverables to be completed within an agreed timeframe.
