Network Engineer (Banking Infrastructure) - Part-Time

We are looking for a Network Engineer on a 12 month contract (renewable)to support the network infrastructure of a leading financial institution. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across the bank's technology environment.

You will work closely with internal technology teams and external vendors to support daily network operations, infrastructure enhancements, and project implementations while ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network equipment, firewalls, and network appliances across enterprise, extranet, and e-commerce network environments.
• Support day-to-day network operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and incident resolution.
• Conduct site assessments and coordinate the installation and implementation of network infrastructure at financial institutions with network connectivity.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network equipment, including routers and switches.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point firewall solutions.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendors to support network implementation and operational activities.
• Ensure network infrastructure complies with the bank's security, risk, and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in network engineering or infrastructure support, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have hands-on experience in several of the following areas:

• Enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, identity-related technologies, and WAN transport.
• Cisco technologies, including:Cisco Routers and Switches (Nexus and Catalyst)Cisco WirelessCisco DNA Center (DNAC)Cisco APIC / ACICisco Prime Infrastructure
• Firewall technologies, including:Palo Alto NetworksCheck PointFortinet
• F5 technologies (LTM, GTM, and WAF).
• VMware NSX-T.
• WAN routing protocols, QoS, and CoS.
• Enterprise networking concepts, including micro-segmentation, Content Delivery Network (CDN), three-tier hierarchical architecture, spine-leaf architecture, and cloud networking.
• Emerging networking technologies such as SASE, SDN, and SD-WAN.

Preferred Skills

The following will be an advantage:

• Experience in scripting and network automation.
• Experience with IT service management tools such as Remedy ISM.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
