Position: Lorry Driver Department: Operations Reporting To: Project Manager / Site Supervisor
Job Purpose
The Lorry Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of workers, materials, tools, equipment, and company assets to and from project sites. The role requires strict compliance with all company policies, client requirements, Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, and Singapore traffic laws. Safety, punctuality, and professionalism shall always be the highest priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with all Singapore traffic laws and company driving policies.
Transport workers, materials, tools, equipment, and consumables to project sites, depots, suppliers, and other designated locations.
Ensure workers, materials, and equipment arrive safely and punctually at the designated locations.
Perform loading and unloading of materials while ensuring all loads are properly secured before transportation.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after each shift, including tyres, brakes, lights, engine oil, coolant, fuel level, and general vehicle condition.
Immediately report any accidents, vehicle defects, breakdowns, traffic offences, or unsafe conditions to Management.
Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the assigned vehicle at all times.
Complete and maintain all required vehicle inspection records, mileage logs, and fuel records accurately.
Assist with the delivery, collection, and movement of company materials, equipment, and documents as required.
Support site logistics and manpower deployment when instructed.
Be prepared to support emergency mobilisation, ad-hoc deliveries, overtime, night shifts, weekends, and public holiday work whenever operationally required.
Carry out any other duties assigned by Management.
Safety & Compliance
The Lorry Driver shall:
Safety shall always be the top priority in every task performed.
Strictly comply with all Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, company policies, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Risk Assessments (RA), client safety requirements, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Comply with all company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and site requirements at all times.
Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whenever necessary.
Drive responsibly and defensively to protect passengers, pedestrians, fellow road users, and company assets.
Never operate a vehicle while fatigued, distracted, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair driving ability.
Immediately report any accident, incident, near miss, unsafe act, unsafe condition, or traffic offence to Management.
Ensure all passengers wear seat belts where required and all materials and equipment are properly secured before transportation.
Exercise Stop Work Authority whenever an unsafe condition is observed.
Punctuality & Professional Conduct
The Lorry Driver is expected to:
Report for duty punctually and be ready to commence work as scheduled.
Ensure timely arrival for all worker pick-ups, deliveries, and project deployments.
Follow all lawful instructions issued by Management, Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and authorised client representatives.
Conduct themselves professionally, courteously, and responsibly while representing the Company.
Maintain good communication with supervisors regarding delays, incidents, or changes to deployment schedules.
Exercise proper care when handling company vehicles, tools, equipment, and client property.
Maintain confidentiality of all company and client information obtained during the course of work.
Requirements
Valid Singapore Class 3 or Class 4 Driving Licence (as applicable).
Good driving record.
Physically fit to perform loading and unloading duties.
Responsible, reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Able to work day shifts, night shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when operationally required.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Acknowledgement
The Lorry Driver is required to understand and comply with all Company policies, client requirements, safety rules, and applicable laws and regulations. Failure to comply with safety requirements, company policies, traffic regulations, or lawful instructions may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
