Job Description - Energy Engineer - Part-Time

The Opportunity

Support the site’s energy sustainability program by introducing effective energy management practices to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Align initiatives with the global energy conservation program and Singapore Energy Act. Analyze opportunities, manage projects, and implement improvements. Additionally, support Engineering Services in meeting profit plan targets, optimizing cost effectiveness, and ensuring reliable utility operations under cGMP and safety guidelines.

What You Will Do

Cost Transformation & Energy Management

  • Lead utility cost transformation projects, ensuring timely implementation, validation, and accurate reporting.

  • Drive site energy efficiency initiatives in alignment with global and local regulations.

  • Promote energy awareness and conservation across stakeholders.

  • Manage computerized energy monitoring systems to enhance sustainability.

  • Develop strategic energy capital projects for long-term efficiency.

  • Conduct energy audits, evaluate options, and recommend solutions.

  • Network with global experts and government bodies to adopt proven technologies.

  • Monitor KPIs, mitigate risks, and escalate issues when necessary.

Engineering Services Support

  • Coordinate with GES on engineering design, construction, and validation.

  • Support Energy Lead in profit planning, cost reduction, and production targets.

  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Maintenance, Utilities & Facilities

  • Compile and analyze energy data to recommend efficiency improvements.

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment operates at peak efficiency.

  • Track conservation projects, cost savings, and set annual stretch goals.

  • Prepare and monitor utility budgets, analyze risks, and propose mitigations.

  • Coordinate project implementation with minimal impact to manufacturing.

Capital Plans & Projects

  • Recommend energy-efficient processes and equipment during capital planning.

  • Maintain a pipeline of conservation projects over 3–5 years.

  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and budget requirements.

  • Prioritize and resolve project conflicts by engaging stakeholders.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of energy conservation technologies, standards, and benchmarking.

  • Strong application of engineering theory and budget management.

  • Skilled in planning, risk-based decision-making, and change management tools.

SHE & cGMP Standards

  • Demonstrate safety leadership and improve SHE standards.

  • Ensure compliance with cGMP and WQS standards.

  • Own QMS Chapter 18 – Plant Maintenance Calibration.

  • Drive sustainable compliance initiatives.

Problem Solving

  • Provide innovative, practical solutions with strategic impact.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues under pressure.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver cost and energy reduction projects on time, within budget, and compliant.

  • Implement performance management processes, set objectives, and reward team members.

  • Execute tasks as prioritized by business needs.

What You Must Have

  • Engineering degree (advanced degree preferred).

  • Singapore Certified Energy Manager (preferred).

  • 5–20 years’ experience in engineering, manufacturing, consultancy, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated leadership aligned with company standards.

Functional Competencies

  • Expertise in project management for complex initiatives.

  • Knowledge of regulations, equipment design, qualification, and maintenance.

  • Experience in vendor contract management and system life cycle methodology.

  • Understanding of maintenance programs (preventive, predictive, reliability-centered).

  • Strong stewardship awareness (cGMP, SHE, regulatory readiness).

  • Effective troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage performance planning.

  • Customer-focused with strong value stream understanding.
