Planted Aquarium Specialist - Part-Time

Overview:

As a Planted Aquarium Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and overall health of freshwater planted aquariums. This role demands a deep understanding of aquatic plants, water chemistry, and the ecosystem within a planted tank. Your expertise will ensure that our clients’ aquatic environments are not only visually stunning but also sustainable and healthy for all inhabitants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as water changes, filter cleaning, and health checks on aquatic plants and fish.
• Diagnose and treat common issues in planted tanks, such as algae outbreaks, nutrient deficiencies, and plant diseases.
• Advise clients on the care and upkeep of their aquariums, including lighting, CO2 supplementation, and fertilization strategies.
• Monitor water parameters regularly to ensure optimal conditions for plant growth and fish health.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, client interactions, and tank conditions.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in aquascaping and planted tank care.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in maintaining freshwater planted aquariums, with a portfolio of previous projects.
• Strong knowledge of aquatic plant species, their requirements, and propagation techniques.
• Familiarity with the equipment used in planted aquariums, such as CO2 injection systems, LED lighting, and various types of filters.
• Ability to identify and solve problems affecting plant and fish health.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to educate and guide clients.
• Flexibility to visit client locations as needed and work according to their schedule.

Preferred:

• A certification in marine biology, aquaculture, or a related field.
• Participation in aquascaping competitions or active membership in relevant aquatic societies.
• Previous experience working in a aquarium shop or professionally maintaining tanks for clients
