Beijing Opera (Jingju) Teacher - Part-Time

Job description

ITI invites applications for a Jingju teacher for the period Aug - Sep 2026. The module to be taught is Immersions in Theatre Traditions (Jingju), in ITI’s Professional Diploma in Intercultural Theatre (Acting) programme. The job will require you to:

• Teach the fundamentals of Beijing Opera, its performance and how it applies to contemporary acting. You will create a presentation by the students at the end of the teaching period
• Assess the students according to ITI’s assessment and evaluation approach, comprising continual and semester-end assessments; this includes providing written evaluation reports

Job requirements

• Trained in the traditional form Beijing Opera
• Minimum 30 years of teaching/practice experience in Beijing Opera
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching to professional and up to post-graduate level acting students
• Ability to take a holistic approach in relation to the overall curriculum
• A well-recognised level of quality and distinction in your work as assessed by commendations and awards
