Online Math Specialist (P5/6) - Part-Time

Job Scope

You will be an Online Math Specialist in our Learning Support Team. As an Online Math Specialist, you will manage a live queue of incoming primary school mathematics queries during peak after-school and weekend hours. Operating entirely remotely, you will serve as the academic backbone of our chat-based service, ensuring students receive high-quality, pedagogical explanations within our target turnaround windows.

Key Responsibilities

Query Resolution: Review photos or text inputs of P5/P6 math questions submitted by students via chat channels.

Guidance: Find out where the student is stuck and provide pointers to help students to think independently and solve problems on their own. This is what makes our service different from others.

Step-by-Step Explanation: You shall provide accurate, structured, and visually clear solutions using MOE-aligned methods (e.g., bar models, unitary methods, and heuristic frameworks like Repeated Identity or Equal Stage).

Pedagogical Clarity: Ensure explanations focus on teaching the logic behind the solution, breaking down complex problem sums into manageable steps suitable for primary school levels.

Quality & Tone: Maintain a warm, encouraging, and professional communication style in all chat interactions while meeting service-level response times.

Continuous Learning: Contribute to our knowledge base in terms of syllabus update, solution technique and teaching methods, including using AI to build up our support question base.

Requirements

Strong familiarity with the Singapore MOE Primary 5 & 6 Mathematics syllabus and heuristic problem-solving techniques.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly via text, annotated images, short audio notes, and short videos/animated images.

Reliable high-speed internet connection and a device suitable for viewing and sketching/typing math solutions cleanly.

Prior experience in tutoring, relief teaching, or grading primary math is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
