ASSISTANT CYBERSECURITY ENGINEER - Part-Time

The organisation is looking for a hands-on Assistant Cybersecurity Engineer to join the cybersecurity team, with a primary focus on Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF) operations. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational health of the Akamai environment, supporting the expansion of coverage to additional internal systems, and helping the organisation mature its security posture through newly enabled capabilities. The candidate will work closely with various internal stakeholders and contractors to ensure the smooth delivery of Akamai services and timely follow-up on security incidents and alerts. The candidate will also provide onboarding support for new systems being brought onto Akamai and offer consultancy to project teams on Akamai-related matters. In addition, the candidate will support the rollout and evaluation of new Akamai security features, including antimalware scanning, AI Firewall, and API Security. This involves hands-on tuning of policies and rules, conducting impact assessments, and working with stakeholders to balance security effectiveness with operational continuity.  Beyond all these, the candidate will maintain and improve operational documentation, including runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration guides, to ensure operational knowledge is well-captured and accessible to the broader team.

Requirements:

• Knowledge in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related technical discipline

• Possess working knowledge of web application security concepts

•Experience with log analysis and data extraction, and proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or Bash for automation and data processing tasks would be an asset.

•Self-starter who is able to manage their own workload with minimal supervision, and should be able to communicate clearly and professionally with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
