Quality Assurance & Configuration Manager - Part-Time

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality & Configuration Manager to lead quality assurance and configuration management activities across projects and operational systems. The successful candidate will establish and maintain configuration control processes, ensure document integrity and traceability, and drive compliance with recognised quality management standards and organisational governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and configuration management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Establish and administer configuration management processes, including configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and configuration audits.
• Ensure configuration baselines, technical documentation, and project artefacts are properly controlled and maintained throughout the system lifecycle.
• Manage document control processes to ensure version control, traceability, accuracy, and accessibility of project documentation.
• Oversee configuration change requests and coordinate configuration control board (CCB) activities where applicable.
• Monitor compliance with quality management systems and recognised standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent.
• Plan and conduct internal quality audits, process reviews, and compliance assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, and operations teams to ensure quality and configuration management requirements are integrated into project delivery.
• Track non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventive actions to improve organisational quality performance.
• Prepare quality and configuration management reports, metrics, and documentation for management and stakeholder review.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in quality assurance and configuration management.
• Proven experience establishing and maintaining configuration control processes throughout the project or system lifecycle.
• Experience managing document control systems and ensuring document traceability and version control.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and recognised quality standards, including ISO 9001 or equivalent.
• Experience conducting quality audits, compliance reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Professional certification in Configuration Management, Quality Management, or Project Management would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting complex engineering, defence, transportation, aerospace, infrastructure, or systems integration programmes.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools, document management systems, and enterprise quality management systems.
• Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes and governance frameworks would be advantageous.
