Research Scientist (1-Year Contract), SCIS - Part-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position is for School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS).
• Conduct routine research for the project under the supervision of PI/Co-PI.
• Design and implement data gathering methods, collect research data, and data pre-processing.
• Design and implement core and baseline machine learning/reasoning methods and algorithms.
• Conduct experimental evaluation of the designed methods and algorithms.
• Conduct literature review; Participate in drafting, revising and publishing research papers.
• Perform public release of research data and code.
• Attend regular group/individual meetings and discussions.
• Other duties as assigned.

• PhD degree in NLP, AI, ML, or closely related disciplines.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in Natural Language Processing, LLMs, and/or Machine Learning.
• A record of publications at ACL / EMNLP / TACL / CL, AAAI / IJCAI, NeurIPS / ICLR / ICML, WWW / SIGIR / KDD /WSDM, or equivalent venues.
• Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong experience with LLMs, machine learning, and deep learning methods and toolkits.
• Strong experience in natural language understanding, reasoning, planning, and search algorithms.
• Interests in LLM factuality and their applicability in attacking misinformation and hallucination.
• Fluent in programming in Python, Java, and C/C++.
• Highly self-motivated, being able to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
