Job Description - Senior Engineer, Engineering Digital Transformation - Part-Time

Role Purpose

Job Description

Identify, define, and prioritize engineering workflow automation opportunities that increase efficiency, improve data quality, and accelerate project delivery. This includes detailed engineering calculations, data validation, and deliverable generation. Source ideas from SMEs and through proactive discovery, and translate them into clear, testable, and technically feasible software requirements for delivery by tool and platform teams.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Requirement

  • Understand current workflows across engineering departments (e.g., the FPSO lifecycle process) and identify opportunities for automation and optimization that maximize lifecycle value.
  • Create and maintain data flowcharts for automation and optimization, clarifying inputs, transformations, and outputs for each workflow.
  • Ensure that automation solutions and generated deliverables align with industry standards, classification society rules, and the company’s design policies and principles.
  • Define clear, testable, and technically feasible software requirements, including engineering calculations, data validation logic, and deliverable generation rules.

Engineering Assurance

  • Lead continuous assurance of automated engineering processes and outputs.
  • Coordinate the collection, analysis, and closure of feedback from automation deployments, and incorporate improvements.

Collaboration - inhouse

  • Collaborate with the other department to iteratively refine requirements, resolve ambiguities, and drive continuous enhancement of digital assets.
  • Work closely with each engineering section and SMEs to gather domain rules, constraints, and best practices, translating expertise into actionable logic and configurations.

Meetings, progress review & reporting

  • Lead or participate in planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Report the impact of automation (e.g., reduced processing time, error rate trends, rework avoidance, deliverable throughput).

Compliance with HSSEQ policies

  • Ensure that all business activities and decisions comply with applicable laws and regulations while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all activities adhere to established quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience indiscipline engineering within the oil and gas sector for Bachelor’s degree holders, or a minimum of 6years for Master’s degree holders.
  • Detailed engineering experience on at least one FPSO project and familiarity with market practices in the oil and gas sector.
  • Proficient in applicable industry standards, software, specifications, and procedures relevant to the functional area.
