For an upcoming drilling rig construction and reactivation project in Singapore, Peak Ocean is assembling an owner-side PMT. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Specialist / Principal Naval Architect to serve as a Client Representative in this role.
The Role: Principal Technical Specialist — Naval Architecture
As part of the Peak Ocean PMT, you will act strictly in the client's interest, reporting to the Engineering Manager and working alongside the POG Technical Director on the most technically demanding marine engineering matters. Your mission is to provide expert, independent technical judgment on complex stability, hull structural, and marine systems issues that fall outside routine engineering — protecting the asset's integrity through construction/reactivation and into service.
Provide specialist technical review and independent verification on the most complex stability, global strength, and marine systems analyses produced by the Lead Naval Arch Engineer's team and the basic design house.
Advise the Engineering Manager and POG Technical Director on high-risk or unprecedented naval architecture matters, including non-standard modifications, novel jacking system configurations, or contested Class positions.
Represent the PMT in specialist-level technical discussions with Classification Societies, Basic Designers, and vendor specialists on complex marine engineering matters.
Conduct independent third-party checks (peer review) on critical stability booklets, structural analyses, and sea-fastening/loadout engineering ahead of Client and Class submission.
Mentor the Lead, Senior, and Naval Arch Engineers on advanced technical methods and problem solving approaches.
Investigate and resolve complex technical disputes or anomalies that the site team is unable to close out.
Requirements & Qualifications
Master's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine/Ocean Engineering; a further postgraduate qualification is an advantage.Minimum 15+ years of experience in naval architecture within offshore/marine industries, with a track record as a recognized technical specialist or principal engineer.
Extensive hands-on experience with advanced stability, global strength, and structural analysis on jack-up or similar offshore units.
Deep expertise in SACS, SESAM, GHS, or equivalent specialist analysis software.
Comprehensive mastery of IMO MODU Code, SOLAS, and Classification Society rules (ABS/DNV), including experience resolving non-standard or contested Class approval cases.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the credibility to be trusted as the final specialist voice on contested technical matters.
