Commis Cook / Junior Cook - Part-Time

Job Description

We are looking for a Commis Cook / Junior Cook to assist with food preparation, basic cooking, kitchen setup, and daily service operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior cooks and chefs to prepare ingredients, cook simple menu items, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure that food is prepared according to company standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients for daily kitchen operations.
• Support basic cooking, plating, portioning, and food assembly.
• Prepare menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and instructions.
• Assist with kitchen opening and closing duties.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, cooking equipment, storage areas, and kitchen tools.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and labelling of food items.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
• Support stock rotation and minimise food wastage.
• Assist with receiving and checking kitchen supplies when required.
• Report low stock, damaged ingredients, equipment issues, or hygiene concerns.
• Carry out duties assigned by the Chef, Cook, or Kitchen Supervisor.

Requirements

• Prior experience in kitchen, F&B, catering, central kitchen, or restaurant operations preferred.
• Basic cooking knowledge will be an advantage.
• Candidates with no formal culinary training may be considered if they have relevant hands-on experience.
• Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Able to stand for long hours and perform physical work.
• Responsible, organised, and willing to learn.
• Able to follow recipes, instructions, and food preparation standards.
• Good hygiene practices and teamwork attitude.
