Role and responsibilities
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Business Development Assistant to work with members of our BD, Marketing & Comms team based in Singapore to support business-critical marketing and business development activities. The growth of our practice in Singapore is a strategic priority for the firm, making this an exciting time to join the team.
This role will play a key role in supporting our BD team to help lawyers win new mandates – the individual will work very closely with the Singapore BD team to play a hands-on role in developing compelling proposal documents and credential statements that are produced to the highest standard within agreed deadlines, and across all disciplines of the business. The BD Assistant will also play a broader role in the marketing and business development related activities for Singapore, working closely with the Singapore BD team, partners, lawyers and the regional BD team on managing, co-ordinating and advising on all marketing and business development related tasks and initiatives including coordinating client events, conducting market research, CRM support, managing deal collection processes, creating client bulletins, executing face-to-face and virtual roadshows involving lawyers across the regional or global network and client relationship management.
You will be working with a BD, Marketing & Comms team comprising Senior Managers, Managers, Senior Executives and Executives – all based in Singapore, as well as BD colleagues in other APAC offices from time to time.
The role offers huge potential to get involved in helping to drive the business forward. The individual will be leading and assisting with a wide variety of business development and marketing tasks and gets exposure to the structure, operations and priorities of a leading regional and global Business Development and Marketing team.
Requirements
The individual concerned needs to be a strong team player, have a positive "can do" attitude and a very good eye for detail, be an excellent communicator and have the ability to communicate with all levels, from BD team members and management to partners, associates, peers and other support groups in a clear and efficient way. The role also requires a keen interest in getting to understand the areas of business and types of legal services that the lawyers provide and getting to grips with their client base so as to help identify cross-selling opportunities and tailor the work product. As such, we are looking for someone with a real interest in business as well as a desire to deepen their understanding of various practice areas. In addition, we expect a high standard of writing and editing skills with the ability to be able to write concisely and effectively; and strong project management skills given the need to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure towards oftentimes tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be fluent in English.
The ideal candidate will have business development and marketing experience in a professional/partnership environment – however, we are willing to consider strong candidates from other industry backgrounds.
