Role Purpose
The LNG Shipping Operations & Chartering Support Executive will support the day-to-day execution of LNG cargo operations and shipping-related commercial activities.
The role will work closely with the Team Leader, traders, counterparties, vessel operators, brokers, terminals and agents to ensure timely and efficient execution of LNG cargoes. The successful candidate will also provide operational and analytical support for chartering, vessel allocation and freight market activities.
Role & Responsibilities
LNG Ship Operations, Scheduling and Chartering Support
⋅ Support the Team Lead in evaluating shipping solutions to lift and transport FOB cargoes from KOGAS portfolio
⋅ Support spot or short-term chartering requirements, including market approach, broker communication, charter party review, and safety requirement coordination
⋅ Support the development and evaluation of vessel procurement options based on short- and long-term trading structures (TCP/COA)
⋅ Assist with the preparation, review and administration of commercial terms for time charter parties (TCP) and contracts of affreightment (COA)
⋅ Support the preparation and issuance of voyage instructions and operational communications under applicable charter party terms
⋅ Support the Team Lead and traders in assessing shpping implements for new trading strategies and maximize value of existing strategies
⋅ Support cargo-level vessel allocation planning (Cargo-by-Cargo Allocation)
Commercial Coordination with Shipping & Operations
⋅ Coordinate with the Team Lead, traders and relevant external parties on cargo schedule alignment, voyage execution and operation requirements
⋅ Prepare supporting information on the commercial implications of operational issues and claims costs
⋅ Support financial settlements related to chartering, including demurrage calculation, negotiation, and claim administration
⋅ Manage charter hire insurance and related financial arrangements
⋅ Liaise with counterparties' shipping teams, shipping agents, and other external stakeholders on operational and chartering support matters
Shipping Market Intelligence & Analysis
⋅ Proactively monitor and disseminate freight market information and supply/demand intelligence on a regular basis
⋅ Produce and disseminate analytics reports for the freight market, including newbuilding activity and vessel availability
⋅ Support FOB cargo economics analysis and trading profitability assessment
⋅ Support the assessment of commercial impact arising from schedule adjustments (delay/deviation) in coordination with the traders, and escalate material issues to the Team Lead
⋅ Liaise with shipowners and brokers on operational and chartering support matters
Compliance & Regulatory Support
⋅ Support the Team Lead in monitoring commercial counterparties and transactions for sanctions exposure, ensuring shipping activities reflect applicable compliance requirements
⋅ Provide supporting information to operational risk assessments and compliance reviews as required
⋅ Coordinate with traders and the Team Lead on internal policy matters relating to chartering and trading activities Job Requirements
Required
⋅ Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in LNG Shipping, marine operations or a related shipping role
- Shipping operations, cargo scheduling, chartering support and third party coordination
- Merchant marine shore operations, LNG shipping operations
- Exposure to Charter party review, ADP management and scheduling experience
- Understanding of LNG Vessel design and vessel performance capabilities
⋅ Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Marine, Engineering, Business, Economics, etc.
⋅ Fluent oral and written knowledge of English
Preferred
⋅ Singaporean citizen or Permanent Resident (PR)
⋅ Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean (spoken and written)
⋅ Experience in LNG chartering support, vessel nomination, broker communication, laytime, demurrage or charter hire settlement
Disqualification
⋅ A person who prepared false documents, made false statements, or forged information during the employment process
⋅ A person who was charged with a major crime (e.g., murder, robbery, rape, arson, possession or sale of drugs) and sentenced to at least one year imprisonment
⋅ Persons with a record of credit default or personal bankruptcy
⋅ A person falling under Article 5 of the HR Regulations of Korea Gas Corporation
Article 5 (Causes for Disqualification) – Persons falling under any of the following may not be hired as employees:
1. A person under adult guardianship or a person under limited guardianship
2. A person who has not been reinstated as a bankrupt
3. A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment or heavier punishment and for whom five years have not elapsed since the execution of the sentence was completed or the non-execution was finalized
4. A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment or heavier punishment and for whom two years have not elapsed since the date of expiration of the period of probation
5. A person who is in the probationary period of imprisonment or heavier punishment
6. A person whose qualifications have been disqualified or suspended by a court decision or by law
7. A person for whom 5 years from dismissal and 3 years from dismissal have not elapsed from the time of disciplinary action
8. Military service evaders under the Military Service Act in Korea
9. Those who are subject to employment restrictions such as those who have been dismissed for non-compliance under the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission
10. A person for whom 5 years have not elapsed since the acceptance was revoked, discharged ex officio, or dismissed/dismissed due to being found to have been hired in an illegal way
11. A person who has been sentenced to a fine of KRW 1 million or more for any of the following offences and for whom 3 years have not elapsed since the sentence was finalized: (a) Sexual violence crimes under Article 2 of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes; (b) Offences under Article 74(1)(2) and (3) of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection; (c) Stalking crimes under Article 2(2) of the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes
12. A person who has been dismissed from, dismissed from, or sentenced to a sentence or medical custody for committing any of the following crimes against a minor, and the punishment or medical custody has been finalized
