We are looking for a Fleet Management Supervisor to provide oversight and implement best practice standards and improvements across our fleet of 17 owned vessels.
Reporting to the Manager, Marine Technical Performance, you will:
- Monitor daily operational activities of Owned vessels and ensure vessels are operating within RTM Safety and Operational guidelines. In collaboration with ship managers, develop, manage, report, and ensure budgets are tracked within the plan.
- Assist in the planning and execution of dry docks, regulatory surveys, and general maintenance
- Ensure the fleet is always aware of, adequately coached, and compliant with Rio Tinto and international regulatory standards.
- Liaising closely with the ship managers on the reporting, investigation, and adequate resolution of incidents, issues, and disputes and ensuring all internal stakeholders are appropriately informed.
- Work closely with ship managers to ensure adequate and competent crew on board-owned fleet, including identifying and implementing appropriate training and/or in-country seminars.
- Work closely with the ship managers to develop a strong safety culture on board the owned vessels in line with Rio Tinto values.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements in the way the vessels are managed, making recommendations, and implementing changes.
- Assisting in placing P&I and other insurance cover for the owned fleet.
- Shipboard visits, as required, to ensure vessels are being maintained and run in line with Rio Tinto standards.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role:
- Degree qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years Navigational watchkeeping officer with sea-going experience preferred.
- You are passionate about the safety and well-being of seafarers, and improving the standards of the shipping industry.
- You possess excellent collaboration and communication skills and can build and manage working relationships to achieve goals.
- You can demonstrate planning and project management experience and delivery of outcomes within budget and timeframes.
- You are always looking at new ways to improve and have strong numeric and analytical skills.
- Experience in working across a diverse range of seafarers and cultures will be highly valued.
- Logistics or Maritime Studies is preferred but not essential.
