Copy Editor, ThinkChina - Part-Time

ThinkChina is an English-language digital magazine under Lianhe Zaobao that features big reads, opinions and columns with a China-focus. We are seeking for an effectively bilingual copy editor to join our team.

Focusing on Chinese-translated articles, the copy editor plays a critical role in fact-checking and refining machine and human-translated articles, to ensure accuracy, clarity and alignment with the publication’s editorial standards and house style. The role also requires suitable and compelling headlines, standfirsts and sub-headings, as well as curating strong pull-quotes for articles to enhance reader engagement and impact.

This is a 2-year contract with a possibility of renewal based on performance and organisational needs.

Requirements

• A Degree in relevant discipline with a strong proficiency in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
• Familiar with AI tools to support and enhance workflows and content production
• Creative with a good understanding of digital and social media trends to tailor and repackage content for different platforms and audience
• Strong interest in current affairs, particularly China-related issues
• Detailed with a strong sense of ownership in delivering high editorial standards
• Able to work independently but also connect with people and collaborate as a team in a fast-paced environment
