Curatorial Research Assistant (Design) - Part-Time

• Up to $3,500 per month
• 1-year contract from Aug 2026
• Mon - Fri, office hours
• Central working location *2 days WFH per week, subject to work exigencies

Responsibilities:

1. Assist curators with research and preparation of content for a range of projects, including gallery rotations and exhibitions.
2. Conduct in-depth research on Asia's role in global design exchanges, and assist with editing transcripts, bibliographies, captions, and footnotes.
3. Support the creation and coordination of multimedia materials and digital initiatives for the exhibition.
4. Manage exhibition-related administrative tasks such as artifact lists, photo archiving, and documentation filing.
5. Help organize and execute educational programs, lectures, and events tied to the exhibition.
6. Aid in the development of the collection by assisting with acquisitions, documentation, and cataloguing.
7. Perform additional research and collection-related tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

1. Possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Art/Design History, History, Anthropology, Museum/curatorial studies, Material culture studies, or a related discipline.
2. Keen interest (preferably with research experience/knowledge) in 20th and 21st century design or in the history of design in Singapore and Asia region, with emphasis on contemporary practices
3. Excellent organisational, project management, and communication skills with ability to conduct independent research with primary and secondary sources.
