Business Analyst- Insurance Domain - Part-Time

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst with strong expertise in the Insurance domain, hands-on SQL knowledge, and solid data analytics skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, technology teams, and data teams to analyze business needs, define requirements, improve processes, and support data-driven decision-making across insurance platforms and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.

• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.

• Act as a domain expert for insurance processes such as policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, renewals, endorsements, and customer servicing.

• Analyze insurance data to identify trends, gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

• Use SQL to query databases, validate data, perform impact analysis, and support reporting requirements.

• Collaborate with data analysts, developers, testers, architects, and product teams to ensure successful delivery.

• Support requirement walkthroughs, sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT, and production validation.

• Create business process maps, data flow diagrams, BRDs, FRDs, and other project documentation.

• Assist in data mapping, source-to-target analysis, data quality checks, and reporting validation.

• Ensure solutions comply with business rules, regulatory requirements, and insurance industry standards.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend data-driven solutions.

• Support defect triage, root cause analysis, and issue resolution during testing and implementation phases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in insurance or financial services.

• Strong understanding of insurance workflows, business rules, forms, regulatory needs, and operational processes.
• Hands-on SQL experience for data analysis, validation, and reporting.
• Good understanding of relational databases, tables, joins, filters, aggregations, and data quality checks.
• Experience in data analytics, reporting, dashboard requirements, KPI analysis, and business insights.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into business recommendations.
• Strong experience in requirement gathering, stakeholder management, documentation, and UAT support.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Technical Skills

• SQL: Intermediate to advanced query writing, joins, subqueries, aggregations, data validation.
• Data Analytics: KPI definition, trend analysis, data profiling, reporting requirements, root cause analysis.
• Documentation: BRD, FRD, user stories, use cases, process flows, data mapping documents.
• Tools: Jira, Confluence, Excel, Power BI/Tableau, Visio/Lucidchart, MS Office Suite.
