Job Description - Lead NDT Engineer - Part-Time

Peak Ocean is a premier global consultancy and project management partner specializing in the offshore, marine, and renewable energy sectors. Known for our commitment to asset integrity, operational excellence, and engineering safety, we deliver elite Project Management Teams (PMTs) that safeguard our clients' multimillion-dollar capital investments globally.

For an upcoming drilling rig construction and reactivation project in Singapore, Peak Ocean is assembling an owner-side PMT. We are seeking a highly experienced NDT Lead Engineer (ASNT Level 3) to serve as a Client Representative in this role.

The Role: Client Representative — NDT Lead Engineer Inspection

As part of the Peak Ocean PMT, you will act strictly in the client's interest, reporting to the Construction Manager. Your mission is to hold final technical authority over all NDT scopes, ensuring weld and material integrity is verified to specification without compromising the construction schedule.

  • Lead and supervise the NDT Engineer (ASNT Level 2/3) team, reviewing their inspection findings and technique sheets.
  • Review, validate, and approve NDT procedures against international marine and structural codes ahead of production use.
  • Make final acceptance or rejection decisions on complex or contested NDT findings, including advanced methods (e.g., Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing [PAUT], Time of Flight Diffraction [TOFD]).
  • Maintain the asset's NDT register and tracking matrices, ensuring full traceability of all inspected joints and structural modifications.
  • Interface directly with Classification Societies to present NDT records and secure structural certifications.
  • Lead root-cause analysis investigations for recurring weld defects or NDT failures, enforcing corrective actions with the shipyard fabrication team.
  • Report NDT quality status, schedule risk, and punch-list progress to the Construction Manager.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Structural, or Marine Engineering.
  • Valid ASNT Level 3 certification in standard NDT methods (UT, MPI, PT, RT) is mandatory.
  • Minimum 10+ years of dedicated NDT/welding QA/QC engineering experience in the offshore marine and drilling sectors, with at least 3 years in a lead/supervisory NDT role.
  • Direct experience with jack-up rig construction, newbuild, or reactivation projects in major Singapore shipyards.
  • Certification in advanced methods (PAUT, TOFD) is highly advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail and clear, factual reporting skills.
