The successful candidate will work with A/P Chng Shu Sin on characterizing the function and mechanism of a membrane protein complex under a project on Understanding cross-talk between envelope assembly pathways in mycobacteria.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
Using genetics and biochemistry to elucidate the mechanism of a mycobacterial complex that coordinates cell envelope assembly in mycobacteria.
Performing intricate lipid and sugar labelling experiments, doing data analyses and developing ideas.
Completing and publishing manuscript on this protein complex.
Qualifications / Discipline:
PhD in fields related to Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or Microbiology. Candidates who very close to completing their PhD, e.g. submitted their dissertations, will be considered.
Skills:
Mycobacteria genetics, protein purification, lipid extraction and analyses, carbohydrate extraction and analyses, critical thinking
Experience:
Strong experience in mycobacterial membrane protein and lipid work
