Job Description - Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (Quantitative) - Healthy Ageing (CARE/RM) - Part-Time

About CARE

The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. CARE conducts multidisciplinary research across medical, social, psychological, economic, and environmental perspectives. Our work spans eight themes: Population Health; Social and Psychological Aspects of Ageing; Family Caregiving; Productive Ageing; Falls Prevention; Community-Based Health and Social Care Services; Ageing and the Environment; and Health Communication. CARE works closely with government and community partners to identify research gaps and support evidence-informed implementation to improve the experience of ageing in Singapore. We are a diverse team and welcome applicants who are motivated to contribute to better health, inclusion, and quality of life for older adults and caregivers.

About the project: HEART

Health, Social and Retirement Transitions from Midlife to Early Older Adulthood (HEART) examines how Singaporeans change as they move from midlife into early older adulthood. Using multiple population-based cohort studies linked with health administrative data, the project will study how midlifers and early older adults interact with evolving technological and social environments. Key topics include functional limitations, chronic conditions, cognition, mental health, healthcare utilisation and costs, health behaviours, productive activities, social ties, living arrangements, and digital skills. Findings will inform health and social policy and support planning for the next generation of seniors.

The role

CARE is hiring a Quantitative Research Fellow to lead key research aims within HEART. The role suits candidates with experience in quantitative healthy ageing research, including self-reported and objective measures of physical and psychosocial health, and/or analysis of health administrative data (e.g., healthcare and preventive care utilisation and cost). Responsibilities may include developing research questions, overseeing data collection and/or harmonisation across cohorts, conducting advanced quantitative analyses, and producing peer-reviewed publications. Candidates with substantial relevant experience and advanced skills may be considered for a Senior Research Fellow appointment with additional leadership responsibilities.

• Lead one or more research aims within HEART

• Work with a multidisciplinary team and mentor junior staff

• Oversee high-quality data collection/curation in line with ethical standards

• Design and conduct advanced quantitative analyses

• Write and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals

• Present findings at conferences, stakeholder meetings, and other dissemination platforms

• Contribute to CARE initiatives as needed

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Gerontology, Epidemiology, Demography, Psychology, Health Policy, or related fields (Graduating PhD students may be considered)

• Strong foundation in Quantitative methods and Data curation/analysis

• Proficiency in at least one: Stata, R, or Mplus

• Strong lead-authored publication record relative to career stage

• Experience with one or more of the following is an advantage: survival analysis; multiple imputation; latent transition analysis; principal component analysis; decomposition methods; inverse probability weighting; structural equation modelling
