Job Description - SALES DESIGNER - Part-Time

This position supports the company in providing customised interior and renovation solutions for residential and commercial clients. The attachment focuses on developing practical skills in sales consultation, space planning, customer relationship management, design coordination, and project support within the interior design and renovation industry.

During the attachment, the trainee will be exposed to the full sales and design process, from initial client engagement to project coordination and after-sales follow-up. The trainee will learn how to understand customer requirements, propose suitable design concepts, prepare quotations, coordinate with suppliers and contractors, and ensure timely project updates to clients.

The trainee will also gain hands-on experience in presenting interior design ideas, selecting suitable materials and furnishings, supporting site measurements, and assisting in project scheduling and documentation. In addition, the attachment aims to strengthen communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and customer service skills required in a fast-paced sales and design environment.

Through structured guidance and on-the-job training, the trainee will develop industry knowledge, practical sales techniques, and operational competencies necessary to perform effectively as a Sales Designer in the interior furnishing and renovation sector.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Assist in attending to customer enquiries via walk-ins, phone, and online channels, and provide basic consultation on interior design and renovation services.

2. Support sales team in understanding client requirements, budget, and space needs through initial discussions and site visits.

3. Assist in preparing design proposals, mood boards, and basic space planning layouts under supervision.

4. Support preparation of quotations, cost estimates, and product/material selections for client presentations.

5. Coordinate with internal designers, project coordinators, and suppliers to ensure accurate execution of design requirements.

6. Assist in conducting site measurements and documenting existing site conditions for project planning purposes.

7. Follow up with clients on quotations, design revisions, and project status updates to support conversion and customer satisfaction.

8. Maintain proper records of customer interactions, sales leads, and project files in an organised manner.

9. Support scheduling of appointments, site visits, and project timelines between clients.

10. Assist in after-sales service, including addressing client feedback and minor adjustments during project execution.

11. Ensure all design and sales activities comply with company standards, timelines, and quality expectations.

12. Participate in team discussions and training sessions to improve product knowledge, sales techniques, and design understanding.

Technical Skills and Competencies

1. Ability to engage customers, understand requirements, and recommend suitable interior design and renovation solutions.

2. Understanding of spatial planning, colour coordination, materials, and interior styling principles.

3. Ability to read simple floor plans and assist in preparing functional layout suggestions.

4. Supporting the preparation of design proposals, mood boards, and visual presentations for client meetings.

5. Basic ability to assist in preparing quotations, pricing breakdowns, and material cost comparisons.

6. Maintaining client records, tracking sales leads, and supporting follow-up communication.

7. Assisting in taking basic site measurements and recording existing site conditions accurately.

8. Working with designers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution and timely updates.

9. Basic proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD (if applicable), SketchUp (basic), Excel, and presentation software.

10. Clear verbal and written communication for client interaction, internal coordination, and reporting.

11. Ability to manage multiple tasks such as client follow-ups, site visits, and documentation efficiently.

12. Identifying client concerns and assisting in providing practical solutions during design and execution stages.
