School Discipline Support Officer (3/4 Days Per Week) Queenstown - Part-Time

Job Scope

Investigative & Case Support

• Assist in conducting preliminary investigations and fact-finding interviews

• Obtain student and witness statements where appropriate and compile evidence and prepare structured incident reports to relevant KPs for directions

Detention & Restorative Follow-Up

• Supervise daily recesses, lunch time and detention sessions

• Maintain attendance and behavioural records during the detention sessions

• Coordinate reflection and restitution activities with Student Manangement (SM) committee members

• Facilitate student reflection on choices, consequences and improvement strategies

• Ensure detention tasks are meaningful and developmental in nature

In-House Suspension Support

• Help establish a structured environment for suspended students

• Support learning continuity during suspension

• Guide students through reflective and re-entry support activities

Campus Supervision & Prevention

• Support recess dismissal routines

• Serve as visible adult presence in high movement areas

• Conduct systematic patrols during Recess/lesson transitions

• Support proactive discipline strategies

• Assist in simple peer reconciliation or mediation contexts (where appropriate)

Deployment & Reporting

• The DSO will report operationally to the Student Management Committee

• Deployment schedule will be determined by the school in accordance with the termly school timetable and school events

The DSO is expected to:

• uphold confidentiality and procedural fairness

• collaborate effectively with teachers and SM personnel

Requirements

• Diploma in Early Childhood/Psychology/Counselling/Social Work, Youth Work/Community Services; or retired officers in law enforcement agencies in Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA); or retired officers/staff in schools related to students management and discipline roles

• Core attribute: Calm under pressure while handling challenging situation with stakeholders (parents) and students.

• Able to engage positively with children under 14 and support behavioral development

• Passionate about working with youths/children under 14, particularly students with behaviours, disciplinary or social-emotional challenges

• Confident in managing challenging behaviours and handling difficult conversations

• Comfortable conducting investigations, writing reports, and maintaining confidential case documentation.

Contract Period: From 03 August 2026 to 18 November 2026
Option to Extend: 01 Jan 2027 to 17 Nov 2027 (TBC End of School Term 4) and Additional 1 year option 01 Jan 2028 to 15 Nov 2028 (TBC End of School term 4)

Working Arrangement

• Working hours: 8.30 am – 3.30 pm inclusive of 30 min lunch break
• Minimum 3 days per week (up to 4 days per week)
• The working days each week are flexible based on mutual agreement with Authority
• Flexibility may be required for home visits, investigation and meetings
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazette public holidays during the MOE School Holiday periods
• Will be notified on the termly work schedule at the beginning of each term
• The school may make adjustments to the work schedule for the DSO to support events to meet school needs

Salary: $2,700 per month
