X-Ray / CT Imaging Engineer - Part-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented X-Ray / CT Imaging Engineer to support advanced imaging and failure analysis activities. This role focuses on operating X-ray and computed tomography (CT) systems, collecting and processing imaging data, and supporting engineering teams with high-quality analytical insights.

You will work in a lab-based environment using nano- and micro-focus CT technologies, with opportunities to develop hands-on expertise in non-destructive testing (NDT) and materials characterisation.

Key Responsibilities

X-Ray & CT Operations

• Operate nano- and micro-focus CT and 2D X-ray systems
• Perform high-quality CT data collection and imaging
• Ensure proper setup and calibration of imaging equipment

Data Collection & Processing

• Collect, process, and prepare X-ray/CT data for engineering analysis
• Support engineers by providing accurate and interpretable imaging results
• Maintain proper records of imaging data and outputs

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventative maintenance on imaging equipment
• Troubleshoot technical issues to ensure minimal downtime
• Coordinate with vendors or internal teams when required

Lab & Operational Support

• Maintain lab safety, cleanliness, and operational standards
• Support multiple projects in parallel with shifting priorities
• Work flexible hours when required (including evenings/weekends)

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field
• Equivalent relevant education or experience will also be considered

Good to Have

• Familiarity with failure analysis techniques and tools such as: Optical Microscopy X-ray / CTXRD, SEM, EDS, FIBFTIR, GCMS
• Experience in non-destructive testing (NDT) or materials analysis environments
