[What the role is]
The Forecast Application Development Department develops tools, products and services to support weather monitoring and forecast operations at Meteorological Service Singapore. The Department’s work involves analysing weather radar and environmental satellite data, post-processing numerical weather predictions and developing data-driven models to improve weather nowcasts and forecasts. To fulfil its mission, the Department also participates in stakeholder engagement and research collaboration activities.
We are looking for experienced individuals to develop and implement innovative weather solutions to support operational weather services, specialised stakeholder/user sectors and the public. The role requires deep meteorological expertise (in areas such as Numerical/AI Weather Prediction and specialised meteorological observing systems) as well as the ability to apply methods in related disciplines such as data science, geographic information systems and software development. You will work with users to translate their requirements for weather services into operational products and services. You will also have opportunities to participate in international conferences and seminars.
