Backup & Commvault Engineer (Contract) - Part-Time

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Backup & Commvault Engineer to manage, support, and enhance our enterprise backup and data protection environment. The role focuses on Commvault Complete Data Protection, ensuring reliable backups, fast restores, disaster recovery readiness, and strong protection against data loss and ransomware.

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Recovery Operations

• Design, implement, and maintain Commvault backup and recovery solutions
• Manage Commvault components including CommServe, MediaAgents, and Clients
• Configure storage policies, schedules, deduplication, and retention
• Perform and support file-level, VM, and application-level restores
• Ensure backup success, performance optimization, and SLA compliance

Disaster Recovery & Data Protection

• Support DR strategies, replication, and recovery testing
• Ensure backups meet RPO / RTO requirements
• Conduct regular DR drills and document recovery procedures
• Support recovery during incidents such as system failures or cyberattacks

Security & Ransomware Protection

• Implement immutable backups, encryption, and access controls
• Support ransomware detection, isolation, and recovery processes
• Enforce RBAC, MFA, and backup security best practices

Infrastructure & Platform Support

• Protect workloads across:
• VMware / Hyper-V
• Windows & Linux servers
• Databases (SQL Server, Oracle, SAP HANA – as applicable)
• Manage backups to disk, tape, and cloud storage
• Integrate on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
