Cloud Architect - Part-Time

Roles & Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in cloud architecture, cloud-native patterns, container management, and cloud computing capabilities, with a strong emphasis on security best practices.

• Design, develop, and deploy systems in Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC) and Commercial Cloud (CC), ensuring robust security controls and network boundary controls are integrated.

• Utilize cloud security controls, network boundary controls, and related toolsets to ensure the security posture of cloud resources.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and integrate DevOps for all applications in GCC, including the necessary pipeline and integrations, with a focus on security automation and compliance.

• Monitor and review all cloud resources, taking the necessary actions to resolve security-related issues and optimize resource spending in alignment with Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) guidelines.

• Collaborate with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to implement necessary changes and improve the security posture of cloud resources based on recommendations and best practices.

• Set up new development tools and infrastructure in the CI/CD landscape, focusing on security automation and compliance.

• Collaborate closely with partners, vendors, application developers, and other teams to implement new systems with a security-first mindset.

• Assist in Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives to implement end-to-end DevOps for identified applications/use cases.

• Provide support for project updates, task lists, and procurement-related processes with a focus on security considerations.

Skills required:

• Experience with implementing and managing secure cloud environments (AWS). Strong understanding of AWS and Azure (or GCP) cloud technologies, with a focus on reliability, security controls, and compliance.

• Experience with ARM (or equivalent), Azure DevOps (or equivalent), Terraform (or equivalent), Ansible (or equivalent), PowerShell, etc.

• Experience in deploying High Availability solutions on new systems and databases.

• Ability to provide and suggest cloud solutions based on best security practices and compliance requirements.

• Good understanding of ITIL processes, including Service Desk, Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management.

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure in terms of cloud solutions, servers, storage, backup, and network.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve security issues before they affect business productivity.

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, present ideas, and explain complex concepts clearly.
