Fullstack Engineer (Java & React) - Banking Sector - Part-Time

Overview

We seek a highly skilled Full Stack Software Engineer proficient in Java Spring Boot backend and modern React frontend technologies. You will shape the future technical direction of user journeys within Wealth Management, innovating financial applications for our internal users and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• You will design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java Spring Boot and React for our internal users and clients in Wealth Management.
• You will build and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices.
• You will implement and maintain Micro Frontend (MFE) architectures.
• You will drive best practices across the entire technology stack.
• You will collaborate with business analysts, project managers, business stakeholders, and other tech teams to integrate and deliver high-quality products.
• You will troubleshoot complex production issues spanning frontend and backend.
• You will drive technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  You will participate in system design discussions and contribute to the technical roadmap.

Required Backend Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17+) with deep understanding of core concepts, coupled with expert-level Spring Boot framework knowledge (MVC, Data, Security, Cloud).
• Strong understanding of modulith/microservices patterns and best practices, alongside experience with relational databases (e.g., MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and SQL optimization.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with message queues (Ka a, IBM MQ, etc.).
• Proven expertise in unit testing and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito, Karate), and a strong understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles.

Required Frontend Technical Skills

• Expert-level Typescript React 18+ experience, demonstrating deep understanding of hooks, context, and component lifecycle.
• Strong proficiency in Redux, Redux Toolkit (RTK), and RTK Query for state management and data fetching.
• Expert-level knowledge of modern web technologies: Micro Frontend (MFE) architecture (Module Federation, Single-SPA), advanced HTML5, semantic markup, and expert-level CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid, responsive design, CSS-in-JS like Styled Components, Emotion).
• Strong command of modern JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+), frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite), and testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright).
• Proven expertise in performance optimization (code splitting, lazy loading) and practical application of design systems and component libraries (e.g., Storybook) for consistency and efficiency across frontend engineering.

Additional Technical Experience (Preferred)

• You will ideally have experience with Cloud platforms (PCF, AWS, OCP), Containerization on (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) to build and deploy robust applications, and be proficient in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and possess a strong understanding of DevOps practices to streamline development and operations. 
• You will ideally understand System Design and Architecture principles, particularly Event-driven architecture, to create resilient and scalable solutions. 
• You will ideally leverage Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Sentry) and employ Performance profiling and optimization techniques (Lighthouse, Web Vitals) to ensure high-performing and stable systems.

Architecture & Design Skills

• You will architect, design, and implement scalable, resilient, and secure systems, leveraging Microservices, Micro Frontend, API design and integra on pa erns, and robust distributed systems with effective caching.
• You will apply Domain-driven design (DDD) principles to evolve our financial services, ensuring security through best practices (OAuth, JWT, CORS, XSS, CSRF prevention).
• You will translate complex business challenges into robust, elegant technical solutions and skillfully evaluate trade-offs, making data-driven decisions that balance short-term goals with long-term system health and performance optimization.
