IT Operations Engineer - Part-Time

Role Overview

We are looking for an entry-level IT Operations Engineer (L1) to support physical access control and identity management operations. This role focuses on executing day-to-day operational tasks including smart card lifecycle management, user access provisioning, SAP account administration, and batch job monitoring.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, adherence to processes, and the ability to maintain accurate operational records in a controlled, audit-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Smart Card & Physical Access Management

• Print, issue, and manage the lifecycle of smart cards (new, replacement, deactivation).
• Provision, modify, and revoke smart card user access based on approved requests.
• Configure and maintain door access profiles and assignments in line with policies.
• Perform quality checks on smart cards and resolve printing or encoding issues.

User & Access Management

• Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts in SAP.
• Manage application access provisioning across enterprise systems within defined SLAs.
• Support role assignments and access changes based on approval workflows.

Operations & Monitoring

• Schedule and monitor batch jobs for door access databases.
• Identify and escalate job failures or operational issues.
• Perform basic database and system checks related to access control systems.

Governance & Compliance

• Assist in access reviews and compliance checks.
• Ensure proper segregation of duties (SoD) awareness during access provisioning.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for all activities.

ITSM & Support

• Log and manage incidents and service requests using ITSM tools.
• Provide Level 1 support for access, smart card, and account-related issues.
• Escalate issues to L2 teams where required.

Documentation & Process Adherence

• Maintain accurate operational records, SOPs, and audit trails.
• Follow defined processes and compliance standards strictly.
• Contribute to improvements in operational documentation and workflows.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Basic understanding of IT operations and access management concepts
• Familiarity with user account management (SAP or similar systems)
• Knowledge of ITSM tools and ticketing systems
• Understanding of access control principles and governance basics
• Good attention to detail and data accuracy
• Strong communication and coordination skills
