Kubernetes Migration Engineer, Urgent, Upto $10k - Part-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Kubernetes Migration Engineer to support the migration of containerized workloads from Rancher-managed Kubernetes environments to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). This role requires strong expertise in Kubernetes platform migration, AKS, Istio, Terraform, Argo CD, GitHub Actions, networking, and hybrid cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing Rancher Kubernetes environments, including workloads, ingress, storage, networking, secrets, and configurations.
• Plan and execute migration of workloads from Rancher-managed Kubernetes to AKS.
• Design AKS target architecture, including networking, security, monitoring, identity, and scalability.
• Convert NGINX ingress configurations to Istio Gateway, VirtualService, and related routing policies.
• Analyze and migrate Apache Web Server routing configurations.
• Migrate stateful and stateless workloads, including persistent storage and PV/PVC migration.
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement Argo CD-based GitOps deployment practices.
• Provision and manage AKS and Azure resources using Terraform.
• Configure Azure Managed Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and observability.
• Support hybrid operations involving Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Proven experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Experience migrating workloads from Rancher or self-managed Kubernetes environments to AKS.
• Deep understanding of Istio service mesh and ingress migration.
• Strong Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Argo CD experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes storage migration, backup, and recovery processes.
• Knowledge of Azure networking, Azure CNI, DNS, firewalls, NAT, routing, and Network Policies.
• Experience with Azure Key Vault and Kubernetes secrets management.
• Strong understanding of container networking, Kubernetes security, and GitOps practices.
