12-Month Contract (Potential to Extend or Convert to a permanent headcount)

Role Summary

The Service Validation & Testing (SVT) Engineer is responsible for validating operating system builds, patch releases, and platform services to ensure they are fit-for-purpose, secure, and production-ready. The role focuses on automated testing, OS-level validation (Linux), and developing scalable test frameworks using Python and Ansible playbooks to enable repeatable and reliable validation cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform end-to-end validation of base OS builds (Linux) including patching, hardening, and core services.

• Execute structured testing aligned to SVT playbooks to validate system functionality, performance, and security compliance.

• Validate monthly, bi-weekly, and on-demand OS patch releases ensuring production readiness.

• Analyze defects, identify root causes, and collaborate with Platform Engineering for resolution.

• Ensure validation processes confirm systems are “fit-for-use” and “fit-for-purpose” as defined by design standards

• Develop and optimise Ansible playbooks for automated validation tasks

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing

• Capture and maintain test evidence, logs, and validation reports, ensuring traceability between requirements and outcomes

• Support testing across enterprise server environments (on-prem and/or cloud)

• Partner with Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams to align validation standards.

• Ensure adherence to enterprise change, risk, and compliance framworks

• Use test management and defect tracking tools to manage testing lifecycle activities

Required Skills:

•Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9/10) administration, including experience with clustering (e.g., Pacemaker)

•Highly effective working knowledge of Python, JSON, YAML, Ansible, Bash. and other scripting tools and capabilities.

•Proven working knowledge of cloud virtualization technologies, including an understanding of orchestration and workflow virtualization functionality.

•Strong working knowledge of service validation and testing process, Agile methodology, and JIRA management.

•Excellent communication skills and ability to understand customer based requirements and expectations.

•Strong documentation skills. Highly effective at driving process improvement based on lessons learned analysis.

•Expertise in navigating/using Windows OS and folder structures; Microsoft Office and collaboration tools: Outlook, Teams, OneNote, Excel, etc.

•Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g., banking/financial services)

Desired Skills:

•Strong prioritization, problem solving, leadership, and team contributing skills, while able to work independently.

•Competent in DevOps CI/CD SDM workflow.

•Working knowledge of industry standard test management (Octane) and test automation tools, and related test automation enablers.

•Motivated outside the box thinker who doesn't settle for the obvious; must be a curious, analytical thinker.

•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
